For more than 30 years Caritas Clinics, has been a primary care safety-net health system in Kansas dedicated to serving people who are uninsured, under-served, and have nowhere else to turn for healthcare. Our two clinics, Duchesne in urban Kansas City, Kansas, and Saint Vincent in Leavenworth, Kansas, operate under the Caritas umbrella and serve vastly different communities. We are united in our goal to provide high quality compassionate primary care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
We also have some news to share about our internal partners and leadership. What you may not know is that we have a sister clinic, Marian Dental Clinic, based in Topeka, Kansas that is also part of the SCL Health ministry in Kansas. Marian Dental Clinic opened in 1988 providing volunteer dental services to the community. It is now a full-service dentistry serving the poor, uninsured, and under-insured of Topeka and Northeast Kansas, currently undergoing an expansion to better serve more patients.
We are excited to announce that Marian Dental Clinic is now under the direction of our Executive Director, Michele Surber. This shift in the scope of work is reflected in her new title, Regional Executive Director for Caritas Clinics of Kansas. The most important change is that this partnership will enable us to add preventative and restorative dental services for Caritas Clinics’ patients.
Ultimately, at Caritas Clinics, we believe that healthcare is a basic human right. We stand steadfast in our commitment that no member of our community should have to choose between life-saving treatment or medication or dental care and putting another meal on their family’s table.
We would not be able to have the impact on the lives of the many patients we serve without your generosity and support. For that, we are continually thankful.
